Our Newspaper
In addition to web services, Idaho Web Company is also heavily invested in a plan to bring a monthly community newspaper to South Valley, Idaho. In 2007 we put our dream into print and delivered a free copy of the South Valley Press by mail to every household in Kuna, Melba, and Murphy Idaho.
Traditionally known as the Kuna Melba area, “South Valley” describes the rural area south of Central Treasure Valley. More specifically, South Valley borders the south sides of the cities of Nampa and Meridian, includes the cities of Kuna and Melba, and ends at the Snake River.
In order to serve the entire Melba School District, we crossed the river at Walters Ferry to deliver a copy of the South Valley Press to the households on the Murphy postal route. A whopping 7,620 copies of the total 8,500 printed were delivered by mail. Remaining copies were placed free-for-pickup in select locations in Nampa and Meridian.
Sadly, an unusual set of circumstances set off a chain of events that caused us to have no other choice but to discontinue publication after just 3 issues. The truth of the matter is that the events that took place were as unexpected as they were unpredictable and far beyond our control to prevent or ability to resolve under the circumstances.
The good news here is that we have identified a need for free newspaper services in the South Valley Area and remain confident in our plan to return the South Valley Press to print. The website for the South Valley Press remains in service at southvalleypress.com and at the beginning of 2009, we launched a blog network on southvalleypress.com so anyone with an interest in sharing community online can now register for a free WordPress powered blog of their own.
An exact timeline has yet to be drafted, but we do believe that the South Valley Press will be back in print sometime in 2009. Currently we are building strong connections with fellow small business owners and sharing our vision with the local business community. Please watch for more information and announcements about our progress here and on southvalleypress.com.
